when little madeline turned one year old, we got to take pictures of her. what a cute and sweet little girl. she was happy, smiley, cooperative, fun, and so very pretty. we had such a great time with her, her good-hearted parents, and her aunt.
madeline’s mom, andrea, designed all the backdrops and props for this shoot. she did so much for me and had every station organized to a tee. and she made/decorated the amazing cake! as a photographer, i have a vision of what i want for each shoot, but i incorporate what my clients want, as well. i was at ease knowing that andrea’s vision for the entire shoot was beautiful, organized, thoughtful, and thorough – while still letting me take the lead. and little madeline fit right in and did so happily. andrea is available to design a shoot with us or an event. if you’re interested in contact me for more information! working with you and andrea to create a beautiful environment and beautiful pictures would be a dream.
when ellie came to me asking to do a shoot in the mountains right away, i was all for it. not only will i take any opportunity to go up to the hills, but i was looking forward to seeing this family. what sweet sweet humans.
as silly as it sounds, editing my photos is somewhat of a spiritual experience for me. i can come down from the high of shooting – the joys, the laughs, making little kids laugh by saying “BOOGERS!”. i listen to a good songs. thoughtful podcasts. sweet silence (and sometimes my own two kids running through the house). and even though, as i look, sometimes i beat myself – the angles i chose, the neglect of a stray hair, not knowing why the bright light is making my camera stubborn, my awkwardness – i can’t help but be in awe of the goodness in my photos. the people in my photos. a connection is formed without them knowing. maybe some would say that’s weird, but i love the relationships that are formed from what i do. from discovering the beauty in my clients. i don’t think it’s easy for anyone to stand in front of a camera, but this family did it effortlessly. joyously. their loving (and piercing *cough cough ellie*) eyes sucked me into each photos. their kind and quiet spirits. and these two little girls. they are delicate, strong, and free.
i love winter weddings. and after this wedding, i felt especially christmasy just in time for christmas. the colors, the lights, the weather, the location, and the quirky love made the festive spirit strong. katie and chris have such a fun goofy love and they both showed so much care for their friends and family. and on on their wedding day. thanks for sharing this beautiful day with us. we love you guys and are so so happy for you.
these two are some of our most cherished friends and this shoot was magical. it couldn’t have been prettier. i can’t help but smile when seeing their eyes sparkle at each other while they sat in a field of pastel and sweet air. the space around them twinkled as the sun went down…literally. i like to think it twinkled just for them. and they didn’t take it for granted. i saw the joy that their love for nature and for each other brought them. i experienced them opening up to what was around them and it shows. i laughed a lot. and i’ve seen their love grow from the beginning. it’s blossomed into what you see. fun. love. twinkle. life. giving. sweetness. i am so excited to see even more growth in these two. i’m going to miss you guys, but i can’t wait to hear about all of your newlywed adventures. thanks for letting us be a part of your great lives.
krista and randy’s wedding was one of the first weddings we ever shot, so i got so excited to take their maternity pictures. they took a chance on us back then and we are so grateful. it’s something else seeing people grow together and create. it is beautiful seeing that in them. plus, they are stinking good-looking and their eyes are full of light. you guys are so fun, so beautiful, and so caring. thanks for letting us be a part of such a big part of your lives.
these three are our good friends. they even had their little girl exactly one week after we had our little girl. their beautiful smiles and calm mood made this shoot so enjoyable, despite the cold. it was more special that i got to do this with them because they are such good friends. it’s not every day you find such an easy-going, appreciative, beautiful family like this one. <3
we met whitney of kippcakes at a wedding we did a few years ago. and then we got to shoot her wedding! and then she contacted me, telling me that she started her own cupcake business. i get really excited when i hear about people i know starting businesses and doing what they love. and i love cupcakes and pretty things. so i was all for it. she brought the cupcakes over and i was blown away. her cupcakes are so very pretty with the prettiest of color palettes. as it turned out, we had the same vision for the shoot, which made it all the more exciting. whitney has the creativity, sweet touch, and care to make the cupcakes beautiful. and the skill and tastebuds to make her flavors and combinations food-moan worthy. plus, she is just adorable. thanks for such a fun time, whitney. keep going with this, girl! these are something special!

i have wanted to post this shoot for awhile. these people are some of my and my husband’s closest people and we both go waaaay back with them. they still apologize for this shoot, claiming to be out of control and crazy. what’s funny about that, is this is one of my most memorable shoots and is high up on my list. i try to tell them, but they don’t seem to get it, which shows their comedic humility. i got to waddle my pregnant butt around in this beautiful spot, be with these great friends, and laugh a lot. they are definitely a little crazy, but that made for one of the most beautifully happy pictures of some of the most beautiful people i know. and a happy photographer. i love their bond. i love my unique relationship with each one of them and their relationship with each other. and would you just look at them. every one of them is so beautiful. love you, guys. and here is your blog post if you even remember doing this shoot (it’s about time!).
gail and brad were a perfect couple to work with and had an wonderful winter wedding. 1. they are fun and loved having a good time with the people they love. which makes for great pictures and a fun time for us, as well. 2. they always made us feel welcome, despite just being the photographers. 3. there were so many smiling eyes in this bunch. 4. there was a full-on blizzard, but you’d never know it by how they responded. they were open to take some snowy pictures, and didn’t complain. they made it so fun, were so tough, and saw the beauty in such a storm (which will be a great quality in marriage). 5. they had a real love for each other. there was nothing showy or fake that we could see about their relationship. we enjoyed being in their company during this snowy sparkly wedding.
