gail and brad engaged.

i know gail from middle and high school and daniel and i met brad through her. after years of not seeing each other, gail contacted me after brad put a ring on her finger. i was so happy to hear from her! it had been so long, so i jumped on the opportunity. gail and i started talking about doing a night shoot downtown. this is not something i had done before, but they were totally cool with taking a leap of faith and letting us just play around with it. i’m a girl who is happier in the sun and who takes pictures in the sweet sweet sunlight, so this was a big change for me. gail and brad are so fun and thoughtful, so the experience was nothing but that. and the twinkly lights made it all the more beautiful. we are honored they chose us to get a look into their fun/crazy/loving relationship. here is a look at their night time engagement shoot in black and white.

chris and claire.

this was one of our favorites. every little part of this wedding made us feel good. from the gorgeous venue (which may possibly be my favorite so far), to the endearing and hospitable people who ran the venue, the band, the goof ball wedding party, and to all of details that they made their own. both chris and claire had never been to a wedding before their own, but i think it made their wedding day all the more special. they didn’t have anything to compare it to and didn’t have to strive to make it look any certain way. they made it theirs and focused on the love. their humble, sweet, adorable love. chris’ smile makes me smile in a second and claire’s gorgeous beautiful gaze gives me chills. girl, you know how to work that camera. we loved this day.

jeanne and keifer.

jeanne and keifer have such a light in their eyes for each other. from just this one evening spent with them, i could see how they treat each other with respect and love. a love that is joyous, mature, fun, and kind. there were many times throughout the photo shoot that they didn’t know i was taking any pictures of them, but the poses turned out perfect because they were so very “them”. so loving and real even when no one was watching. i am very lucky that they decided to drive to colorado from kansas city and do their engagement pictures with us. i learned from their love. i am even luckier to have known jeanne for so long. she has become such a strong and beautiful woman who has found a man who treats her so so good. what a good guy.

i can’t wait to see you beautiful people again. thanks for loving my family like you did and for being such good humans. i’m so happy for you guys.

myron’s o’toole’s tribute.

i worked at o’toole’s garden center for a good few years. myron managed the location in lakewood and created a magical place for his employees and customers. this last summer was his last at o’toole’s. he is one of the most kind, giving, goofy, and knowledgable men i know and i was lucky to have such a guy for a boss. some of my closest friendships i have today were created in this place years ago. myron created an atmosphere where people loved to visit, stay in touch, and create relationships. i’m very thankful for this man and the place he made so beautiful.

whitney and brandon.

this couple and this wedding were the best of both worlds. i laughed and cried in one day more than i think i ever have. whitney and brandon are the type of couple we love shooting. flexible with timing to show their appreciation for photography, yet still conscience of timing and schedule and being up for anything. but most of all, being so loving and welcoming to us. we didn’t know whitney and brandon that well before their engagement shoot, but after their wedding, they made us feel like family. their kind spirit is also seen in their love and giving toward each other. this is a couple that knows how to have a good time and tease each other, but also one that knows how to be still and quiet and simply enjoy each other’s company. they were a joy to be around. we loved your gorgeous, thoughtful, diy (with so many adorable details) wedding. we loved spending time with your hilarious wedding party and warm-hearted families. and we love you guys. thanks for making us feel so comfortable, loved, and for letting us take pictures of your beautiful selves.

the mayberry family.

these are good people. the kind of people i love to spend shoots with and the kind of people i am honored to know. i have known them for probably the last twenty years. my mom watched colin and garrett for years and i babysat them a few times once i got old enough. so a lot of my young years included them. whether that be singing to kids cassette tapes in the back of the mini van, always having some cute little guys to play with after school, or always having broken toys. doing this shoot gave me another glimpse to see who they have become. smart, successful, sweet, silly, handsome men. and their qualities reflect who their parents are. such good, giving people i feel so comfortable with. thanks for a beautiful evening, mayberry family. it was a pleasure to share that autumn light with the four of you.

and now an awkward picture of sixth grade elizabeth with the colin and garrett and another of their cute faces and blonde blonde hair.

rhiana and ben. [colorado wedding photographer]

these people. this wedding. let me start off by saying how hard it was to take three hundred of my favorite photos from this wedding, and dwindle it down to what you see below. so much love and growth went into this wedding. ben and rhiana are friends of ours, so when we get together there is a lot of food, gardening, love, and life talk going on. to see them incorporate those ideals into their wedding so strongly, goes to show how passionate these two are. which is what brought them together in the first place. and that is evident. the bouquets came from rhiana and ben’s flower garden (with a generous donation of beautiful lilies from her good friend), some of the food was from their vegetable garden (the beets..oh goodness..so good), and the favors were garlic bulbs for their loved ones to plant. they sang, they danced, they hugged for twenty seconds at a time, they partied. they were all about spreading the growth and the love and you can see that giving spirit in their eyes. just look at these two. they’re beautiful. we had a blast, you guys. thanks for being so kind and so loving to everyone you come into contact with. it’s such a pleasure knowing you.
